La Fortuna Waterfall y Volcan Arenal

The second weekend in Costa Rica our group took us to the waterfall La Fortuna which was pretty amazing.  This was the first time I had ever seen in person a waterfall, and the fact that I got to experience this while hiking in Costa Rica was pretty precious and I relished every second of it.  The hike down to the waterfall was about thirty minutes, and you could smell the richness of the earth around you.  As we sauntered down the path I took several moments to just stop and take in the scene around me.

This is real. life.
This is really happening.
Don't wake me up.

We had lunch and dinner in the town of La Fortuna, but for dinner I stayed behind with the guys in the springs because I was enjoying soaking in the water more than I wanted to go back into town.  For lunch we were looking for the cheapest place to eat, when this local guy told Colleen about this little soda on a side street, which we promptly found and the food was absolutely delicious.  They brought Colleen this strange tea drink when she asked for tea so we were all pretty intrigued by that.  We had like 30 minutes to eat and get back on the bus so we were stuffed and fat walking back.

We arrive at Baldi Hot Springs hotel not much later and proceed to chill hard all weekend.  We are staying in a LEGIT RESORT. My eyes have never rested on such a luxurious place before, and I was utterly overwhelmed.  This is a huge hot springs resort filled with pools and swim-up bars and water slides and utter amazingness.  And here I am, 21 years old, just chilling with Costa Rica's finest.  I can't get over it.  We immediately strip down to our bathing suits after soaking in the view in the room, and proceed to spend the rest of the evening pruning our fingers and exploring what Baldi had to offer.

I absolutely love everything going on here.

That night we hit up the only discoteq close by (because we are in the middle of no where) and its filled with faux smoke and loud music and flashing lights.  Well then.  We stay for a little bit and dance with a few US guys trying to pseudo-salsa but eventually head back to the hotel.  Meh.  The next morning we planned on getting  up really early and taking a taxi to Arenal National Park but the front desk says they want to charge us $60 and that's a bad joke so instead we just lounge in the hot springs until its time to go.  What a relaxing weekend.  Pura Vida.
